Chinhoyi – Schools in Mashonaland West Province are revolutionizing education by integrating entrepreneurship and income-generating projects, making institutions more self-reliant and reducing the financial burden on parents.
At the Secondary Schools Field Day and Prize-Giving Ceremony held at Chinhoyi Technical High School, Valley Seeds Managing Director Tich Maponga praised schools for equipping students with practical business and agricultural skills.
“These projects are producing not just bright students, but skilled individuals ready to contribute to the economy,” said Maponga, representing CEO Temba Nkatazo.
Chinhoyi Technical High School emerged as the top school, showcasing enterprises such as a driving school, bakery, garment production, cosmetology, farming, and a milling business with a state-of-the-art machine.
Sanyati Baptist High School and Sandringham High School secured second and third place respectively, also recognized for their entrepreneurial excellence.
Valley Seeds pledged continued support, highlighting the role of innovation in shaping future leaders.
Provincial Minister of State Marian Chombo commended schools for embracing President Dr. Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision of self-sustained national development.
“These skills empower students to become active contributors to economic growth,” she said. “They are learning to be their own economic developers.”
