NASH Paints Group has tightened its internal security controls after one of their employees recently got arrested for theft.
The employee Leona Maseva was arrested after allegedly stealing more than US$5 000 from her employer between January and February this year.
Maseva (24), joined the company in 2021 and was arrested before appearing at the Mbare Magistrates’ Court facing theft charges.
She was granted $50 000 bail and is expected back in court on April 19 for her trial.
Allegations are that Leona committed the theft between January 26 and February 18.
It is alleged that on the first occasion, some money was transferred into Leona’s personal InnBucks account and, on the next occasion, she was given hard cash in Harare’s Central Business District.
However, an alert NASH Paints security guard busted Leona, and her accomplices.
Speaking to Gemination, Nash Paints Operations Manager Angeline Kasaira said they have tightened their security controls against such malpractice.
“Our goal is to provide quality and affordable paint to the masses of Zimbabwe and it’s disheartening when employees steal.
“We have therefore tightened our security controls to make sure no one goes scot free. We have plugged any loopholes to safeguard our work and our end users,” Kasaira said.
