The Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), and Mosi oa Tunya Development Company have extended their heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Paul Matamisa, CEO of the Tourism Business Council of Zimbabwe (TBCZ), following his appointment to the six-member committee of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Tourism Steering Alliance.
In a joint statement released today, the three tourism bodies described the appointment as a “prestigious role” that reflects Mr. Matamisa’s “unwavering dedication and vast knowledge of the tourism and hospitality industry.” They hailed the appointment as a significant milestone not only for Mr. Matamisa but for Zimbabwe’s tourism sector at large.
“Your leadership will undoubtedly contribute to the advancement of collaborative efforts that enhance tourism initiatives and foster economic growth,” the statement read.
“We look forward to your impactful contributions in this important position.”
The SADC Tourism Steering Alliance plays a crucial role in shaping regional tourism policy, coordinating sustainable tourism strategies, and driving cross-border tourism development across Southern Africa. Mr. Matamisa’s inclusion on the committee places Zimbabwe at the heart of these efforts.
Industry stakeholders have also praised the appointment, noting that Mr Matamisa brings decades of experience, deep sectoral insight, and a strong track record of promoting public-private partnerships in tourism development.
His appointment is expected to enhance regional cooperation and help position Zimbabwe as a key player in shaping the future of sustainable tourism in Southern Africa.
