Tryson Chimbetu taken to Ngomahuru

Marxist Brothers band leader, Tryson Chimbetu, was at the weekend taken to Ngomahuru Psychiatric Hospital in Masvingo.

He will be admitted for at least three months.

A close source told Gem Nation News that Tryson had been allegedly hooked on drugs mostly Crystal Meth or mutoriro for some time.

“He has been taking substance mostly Gukamakafella/mutoriro in recent months,” the source said.

“It is better at Ngomahuru because it is safe and secure, far from Harare.”

Following the drug abuse the Mai Maria hitmaker has missed on his shows lined up this January.

According to H-Metro, Tryson became the talk of his community following his violent conduct and use of obscene language against his own mother.

“He reportedly had a long fracas with his relatives on Saturday evening, among them his brothers, who wanted to take him to rehab at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.

“Reports say relatives wrestled with him for close to two hours as he resisted getting into the car,” the paper wrote.

“He was refusing to be taken to rehab at Parirenyatwa. He was now moving around the area with a knife, threatening to stab any relative who dared visit him.

“Although they managed to take him, he fought his brothers. It looks like he is losing his mind because of drugs. He was staying with his son, but he was very violent. He is accusing his mother of bewitching him,” the paper reported.

The paper said Tryson refused to go to hospital on Saturday, saying he feared for his life.

Symptoms of substance abuse started last year when Tryson would loud music much to the chagrin of Glen View 3 residents in the dead of the night.

Tryson would blast his music around 10pm to around 5am, disturbing the peace of not only residents but most importantly students studying.
