Mt Hampden — The revitalization of the local manufacturing industry is crucial for Zimbabwe’s industrialization and economic growth.
This was by Grison Muwidzi, the Managing Director of Grindale Pvt Ltd, an electro-mechanical engineering and civil contracting company based in Mt Hampden.
“We need favourable working conditions through policies that promote access to finance and create synergies that as local manufacturing companies we can trade internationally and in that way we help accelerate the country’s re-industrialisation,” Muwidzi said.
During a tour of the company by Mashonaland West Province Minister of State Marian Chombo, Muwidzi called for policies and investment in the local industries to help the local manufacturing industry compete on the international market.
“We can help revitalize the local manufacturing industry with the right support to compete on the international market as we believe that there is a huge opportunity for industrialization and manufacturing growth in the country,” he said.
The company, which has been operational since 1990, has taken part in national projects such as the Vungu Dam construction and supplies various industrial engineering products for the agricultural, mining and industrial sectors.
Minister Chombo echoed Muwidzi‘s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of revitalizing the local manufacturing industry to create import substitutions and save much-needed foreign currency.
“The revitalization of the manufacturing industry will help to accelerate industrialisation of the country and create import substitutions saving the country the much-needed foreign currency,” she said.
The Minister hailed the Grindale Engineering Pvt Ltd for embracing and adopting President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s philosophy of that the country can only be built by its own people.
“I am happy with your vision that embraces local solutions for local needs and this is something our government is committed to assist and your business goes a long way in ensuring that we save the much-needed foreign currency through import substitutions,” She said
