REVIEW: Anita Jaxson talks High On Your Love in new single

By Jonathan Mbiriyamveka

Whoever thought that Anita Jaxson couldn’t sing should think again!

Well, Anita just proved she is a great singer with her new single High On Your Love where she nicely lays her vocals over a lingering beat.

In fact, she is more of a singer than a chanter as she displayed on the song where she hits all the right chord the lows and highs bringing out her best in sound.

She also made sure she doesn’t complicate things for herself by ensuring she performs the song as a solo artist.

High On You Love is a feel good track and it relates to those in and out of love. And quite honestly, it is different from the “bad gal ting” she displayed on her collaboration with Jah Master where she tried the patois accent.

From the latest track one can tell that Anita has more to offer musically that is and she is dishing it out in bits and pieces.

When all is said and done, the real Anita will be known and people might be in for a huge surprise.

She is going through a phase of self-discovery and this is why perhaps she is not afraid of experimenting with different sounds.

However, at times experiments are highly risky but on this one she successfully owned the song.

While the song is simple and straight forward it is the same with the visuals. She experimented again by just being the main chick in the video produced by Trust Njagu.

The video also tell a thousand words because while it is simple it brings us closer to the artiste and in this case it was Anita.

She never shied away from the camera for a minute as each shot was about her and her only. She is seated on a chair in the lush green garden with the precast wall acting as a backdrop.

Now this is why simplicity is always the best and we marvel at her beauty with reckless abandon.
