Rev Obadiah Msindo, the President of the Destiny of Afrika Network (DANET), has accused his former political adversaries of setting him up in an attempt to sabotage his reputation.
The altercation unfolded at Rainbow Towers over the weekend, when three women, allegedly linked to an opposition party, confronted Msindo in a calculated move to both tarnish his image and publicly humiliate him.
The incident occurred while Msindo was engaged in a conversation with an elderly woman at the hotel, leaving him caught off-guard when the women attacked him.
Addressing journalists shortly after the confrontation, Msindo expressed his belief that the attack was part of a deliberate scheme to undermine both his personal and political standing.
He pointed fingers at social influencer Malcom and members of the G40, a political faction, accusing them of masterminding the assault due to differing political ideologies.
According to Msindo, tensions had been brewing ever since Malcom posted a controversial video on social media, in which he implicated Vice President Chiwenga in plans for a demonstration set for March 31, 2025.
Msindo, disagreeing with the allegations, had advised Malcom to avoid dragging the Vice President into political discussions, a suggestion that ultimately led to Msindo’s removal from the “Zimbabwe We Want” WhatsApp group, which is affiliated with G40 activists.
Msindo firmly believes the attack was a premeditated effort to discredit him, stating, “I don’t take orders from anyone. As a national citizen, it’s my right to hold my own political beliefs and make my own choices.”
The confrontation, he added, was simply the latest in a series of attempts by Malcom to smear his name.
Msindo also rejected the false accusations made against him by the attackers, who accused him of overstepping with his political views. He reaffirmed his right to express his political stance freely, without fear of harassment or intimidation.
In the face of such an unjust and cowardly attack, Rev Obadiah Msindo has shown remarkable courage, demonstrating that the fight for political freedom and expression is still alive and well.
His unyielding commitment to standing firm in the face of adversity serves as an inspiration to those who believe in a more inclusive and democratic society.
“My message to all Zimbabweans is that we need to unite as a people. The politics of us dividing each other, attacking each other, demonising each other, antagonising each other will not take us anywhere. We need new politics, we need new direction we have a President who is performing. To the church leaders and all christians before you criticise the President did you pray for your President at the moment no matter what happens in 2024, 2025, 2026 let us all rally behind our President then we will see Zimbabwe changing,” Rev Musindo said.
The Destiny of Afrika Network continues to push forward in its pursuit of a better future for all.
