Marc Marquez will look to continue his dominance of the 2025 MotoGP season when the seventh round, the British Grand Prix, is held at Silverstone on the afternoon of Sunday 25 May 2025.

Ducati Lenovo’s Marquez reclaimed the top spot on the Riders’ Championship standings when he came home in second place in the French Grand Prix earlier this month – Marc took the leadership of the log from his younger brother Alex, who had his first DNF (Did Not Finish) of the campaign in difficult conditions in France.
“Scoring 20 points plus [a win in the Sprint Race], I can say that it was a good weekend,” said Marc Marquez, who probably would have won in France, had he not been forced to serve a double long-lap penalty due to confusion over the starting procedure in a wet race.
“When it was raining during all the race, the track was changing super quick: less water, more
water, less water, and the grip was changing a lot. It was difficult to adapt the riding style to the
conditions.”
One man who thrived in the conditions was LCR Honda’s Johann Zarco, who became the first
Frenchman to win the Motorcycle Grand Prix on home soil in more than seven decades – a result which pushed him up to sixth on the Riders’ Championship standings and makes him the one to watch heading into this weekend’s action.
“I feel very special and proud, because I love motorcycle history and to write this line as a French rider winning the French GP, it’s just magic,” said Zarco.
“I always push myself, hoping that I can win races or be on the podium. But [the French GP win] was also about making this choice for the rain tyres.”
Marc Marquez will back himself to win at Silverstone this weekend, though he has only once (2014) claimed the chequered flag in a MotoGP race at the iconic Northamptonshire track.
In recent years, the British GP has thrown up surprise winners such as Aleix Espargaro and Alex
Rins, though Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati Lenovo dominated last year’s event.
