Mono to mark 53rd birthday with new album

Seasoned music producer and guitarist Clive Mukundu or simply Mono will mark his 53rd birthday on 15 September 2023 at Alliance Francaise starting at 6pm.

Mono will be joined by some of his friends in celebrating his birthday with the launch of his new album — Monosophy.

“The album was meant to be released on my 50th birthday in 2020. Since 50 is a very mature age I decided to share some wisdom concerning life issues into two projects, a book for the boy child called ‘Man Vacuum’ and this album called ‘Monosophy’ addressing some life issues,” Mono explained.

“But everything was disrupted by the covid-19 pandemic, so I shelved the music album and released the book only on my 50th birthday in 2020. We held the book launch online and it was graced by Padare men’s forum officials.”

He explained further when pressed to comment on the album: “So my 53rd birthday I am now releasing the album. The name of the album is comprised of two words, Mono, which is my name, and Sophy, which is originally a Greek word that means wisdom, knowledge, or learning. “So as a mature musician the message is basically some life issues that include marriage and general family issues.”

The six-track album is different from Mono’s previous projects in that previously he used music as a way to market hi guitar skills and studio sound, but this time the main focus was on the message.

“I feel very favoured by God to be able to reach 53. When all my friends perished die to the AIDS pandemic in the 1990s, I was 100% sure that I would never reach 40. So reaching this age is a cause for celebration for me. So it feels great,” Mono said.

The event is hosted by Alliance Francaise is hosting the album launch on 15 September which is his birthday Mono will be performing music from the album alongside fellow musicians on stage.
