Zimbabwe’s hip-hop prodigy — King 98 and his Tanzanian counterpart Juma Jux — ensured that Raymond Nyarufero is happy this Christmas after they gifted him with some groceries as well as US$205 spending money.
The two artists who have been busy recording and touring Harare took time of their busy schedule Monday to handover some goodies including meat and mealie meal ahead of the festivities in Warren Park, just a few minutes drive outside the city centre.
“I am happy to assist the needy and Raymond is one of my biggest fans and I’d like to extend the Christmas cheer to him,” King 98 said.
Juma Jux added: “I am happy to be here and to get a chance to assist a fan because at the end of the day he is our family. I hope next time it will be more.”
Raymond’s mother was also thankful to the duo for assisting the family during the festive season. She said she was heavily indebted.
The 18-year-old Raymond suffers from cerebral pulse and according to mother it was not easy to raise him to get where he is now.
King 98 is expected to drop a collaboration with Juma Jux soon as he consolidates his fan base in East Africa.
This is not his first time to collaborate with a Tanzanian artists, his previous banger — Kachiri — featured the talents of superstar Diamond Platinumz.
The video of the song which dropped in July 2020 has hit 4.7 million views on YouTube and still counting. Kachiri was King 98’s breakaway hit and he has not looked back endearing himself well with the East, Central and Southern Africa regions. Juma Jux was accompanied to Harare by his management as well as King 98’s East Africa manager. The artist got a hero’s welcome when he touched down at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport earlier this week.
