Kariba — Kariba Municipality proudly held a Father’s Day Commemoration on Saturday at Waterfront Resort, recognising and celebrating the vital role fathers play in our families and communities.
Organised by the Gender Office, the event brought together fathers from all wards, with five representatives from each ward, to honor their dedication, strength, and love.
In his opening remarks, Kariba Mayor Ralph Maoneyi expressed the importance of fatherhood in fostering a supportive environment for families.
“As a Municipality, we deeply value the positive impact of fatherhood in shaping our society and nurturing responsible generations. This celebration is a heartfelt gesture to say thank you to all fathers for their unwavering commitment,” he stated.
The event featured various activities, including speeches and entertainment for exemplary fathers, showcasing the diverse contributions fathers make within their communities.
Rodes Kudawafeya Madira, a local community leader, emphasized the significance of fathers in promoting social stability.
“Fathers are the backbone of our families, and their involvement is crucial in raising children who are respectful and responsible. Today’s event serves as a reminder of their invaluable role,” he remarked.
Wonder Ndaza, a father of two and participant at the event, shared his personal reflections. “Being a father is not just about providing; it’s about being present and actively participating in my children’s lives. Celebrations like these inspire us to strive for better,” he said.
The event concluded with a call to action from the Municipality, encouraging more community initiatives to support fatherhood and family involvement.
As Kariba continues to recognize and celebrate the contributions of fathers, it reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a nurturing environment for future generations.
