ZPC KARIBA and Manica Diamonds played out a goalless draw in a highly anticipated match.
The game was evenly contested, with both teams creating scoring opportunities but failing to capitalize.
In the first half, ZPC Kariba controlled the game for the first 15 minutes but failed to create clear-cut chances.
Manica Diamonds nearly scored in the 13th minute through Amidu Bret after ZPC Kariba goalkeeper Tatenda Munditi failed to control the ball in a one-to-one situation.
The second half was equally intense, with both teams creating scoring opportunities. Tshipamba Babadi of Manica Diamonds missed from a tight angle early in the second half, while Munashe Kamwendo of ZPC Kariba had a few attempts that went off target.
The match saw several substitutions, with ZPC Kariba bringing in Ian Sibelo and Genius Hute, while Manica Diamonds brought in Emmanuel Paga and Dhemera Kudzai. Hute’s introduction had a significant impact on the game, with the substitute changing the complexion of the match.
After the match, both coaches reflected on the game. Manica Diamonds coach Tafadzwa Mashiri praised his team’s performance, saying, “Glory to God for the point. I think we are coming from a very difficult phase where we have been losing games. But getting a point away from home, I want to salute the guys. They played very well.”
ZPC Kariba coach Newton Chitewe expressed disappointment at not winning, saying, “Unfortunately, we did not win today. We wanted to win, we were desperate for a win, but it didn’t come the way we expected.
“We didn’t have many chances, but we had one that I thought maybe we should have scored in the second half, but it didn’t go well for us.”
The draw means ZPC Kariba continues their unbeaten run, having drawn with Simba Bhora in their previous match.
Manica Diamonds, on the other hand, will look to build on this point as they prepare for their next match.
Last week the match between Simba Bhora and ZPC kariba ended in a one all whilst the match between Manica Diamonds and Fc platinum was postponed following the death of Fc platinum’s captain Brian Banda. Banda died in a car accident on his way from Bulawayo to Zvishavane.
