Mbira princess Hope Masike will be rocking Theatre in the Park and Dollarbill Entertainment’s Jazz and Soul Friday Night this Friday starting at 7pm down to 9pm.
This week, the event will be a bit more advanced than the usual musical concert as it adds another component of literature and poetry.
This segment will see Hope Masike teaming up with jazz legendary musician Tanga wekwaSando and Fadzai Katanda as guest performers.
However, this will be a full musical concert combined with the book launch for Masike’s new book titled ‘Dzevabvezera’.
According to Masike, the book is strictly for the adults therefore this week’s Jazz and Soul Friday Night is for the adults. She added that couples should consider coming for this as it will be speaking to their hearts.
The book is also going to be on sale at $10 and will be full of all Valentines messages to the loved ones ahead of the Valentine’s Day on February 14.
This February 2022, Theatre in the Park has a lineup of greatest performers for its Friday concerts and top sungura musician Alick Macheso will be performing next week on February 18.
Victor Kunonga and Mutare-based Jazz star Rutendo Jackie will be lighting up the venue on February 25 while the comedy night dubbed ‘Coming to America’ hosted by multi award-winning comedian Long John will be coming again this week on Saturday.
Bulawayo-based Khally Sibanda directed play ‘Rendition of Les Miserables’ is also scheduled for February 23 and 24.
Tickets for all these entertainment activities are already available at the venue.
Rooftop Promotions producer Daves Guzha indicates that the venue is still limiting numbers as a way to comply with COVID-19 protocols.
He also adds that the institution has plans to expand the venue and the work is in progress.
There is an idea of a wine and coffee bar.
Theatre in the Park is a performance venue located in the Harare Gardens at Corner Leopold Takawira and Herbert Chitepo avenues and it is administered by Rooftop Promotions.
It also serves as a hub for various artistic works and is open to the public. All artists in Harare and those visiting the city converge there for entertainment and other needs like internet, rehearsals, meetings and workshops.
