Popular Classic263 radio personality Witness Matema who celebrated his 50th Birthday Thursday is set to throw a big red carpet party this Sunday at the Rainbow Towers.
Matema who is lovingly called Uncle Chu joined radio some 24 years ago at the then Radio 3 now Power FM.
At the time, he was simply called Chuman, but as years went on he became to be known as Uncle Chu aka Mr Nice and Easy.
He is now seasoned and suffice to say he was one of sought-after presenters when he moved from Power FM to Classic263.
Alongside the likes of veterans Kudzi Mr Cool Marudza, Uncle Chu has been a part of Huggiez Entertainment, a company that specializes in old skool music.
Tich Mataz, a senior and seasoned radio personality who worked closely with Uncle Chu during his formative years was elated that he turned a year older.
And there aint nothing quite like a Chuman birthday especially at 50.
There is going to be double celebrations one at Rainbow Towers on Sunday where his friends and colleagues will gather over dinner and music. And those who wish to attend will pay an admission fee.
Some of the guests including those from other radio stations are: Mr Cool, Dj Flabba, Kayce The Gigmaster, Tich Mataz, Kimble Rogers, Tendai Chakanyuka, MacDonal Gurura who will be the emcee, Themba Mkanda, Tony Friday, DJ Chilly and surprise guests.
Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without some musicians who worked with Chuman over the years including Jabavu Drive, Kelly Rusike, Mono Mukundu, Hope Masike and Brian K.
Since there will be a red carpet rolled out to guests the presenters will be Butterphly Phunk and Goodchild.
Thereafter the party continues on Saturday at Damview starting at 12 noon for what’s been dubbed ‘Hunters Dry Party’ in Chitungwiza.
It will be a party and a half featuring Huggiez Entertainment and several other DJs the likes of Mdhara Zobha, Tommy Dutch, Tinashe Chikuse, Merciless Zim, Butterphly, Squilla, Valentine Mabugu, Tafara Matura of Classic263, Miss Rach, Dj Chlli and DJ Storm.
