ENZO Ishall’s life seems to be spiralling into a rapid decline, Gemnation can reveal, with disturbing news reaching us that the Zim-dancehall sensation has attempted to take his own life four times under the influence of drugs.
We can report that Ishall has been battling drug addiction over the past year or so, in a development that has threatened to put his once fast-rising career into jeopardy, and sound the death knell for an artist who had quickly garnered widespread acclaim in Zimbabwe.
Ishall’s apparent downfall – and worse the heart-rending attempts on his own life – have left horrified family and friends desperately searching for measures to save the Tiza hit-maker from a sad and tragic demise.
A close source told Gemnation that the 30-year-old’s condition first manifested itself during his tour of the United States.
“While on stage, Enzo Ishall was completely out of character and besides himself,” said the source. “He palpitated and left the audience dumbfounded. The management had to sanitise the mess, claiming he was in a trance-like state.”
Sadly, it didn’t end there. His troubles returned home to Zimbabwe with him, and worsened.
“Upon his return, Enzo Ishall has had tried to commit suicide four times in the last six weeks. Now, this was a cause for concern since it all happened while he was under the influence. There were efforts to take him to hospital, but then we found that he had stashed a bottle of bronclear (bronco) in his pants.”
But, what could lead one so gifted and promising to such self-destructive behaviour?
“Probably pressure from his peers,” replied a relative close to Enzo Ishall.
Probably also his nasty divorce with his ex-wife.
One of the most talented lyricists of his generation, Enzo Ishall made a huge splash on the music scene with the hit Kanjiva, which was produced by Levels under ChillSpot Records.
From ChillSpot Records, Enzo Ishall whose real name is Kudzanayi Mamhare signed with the self-proclaimed prophet Passion Java, under his Passion Java Records stable.
Before long, he severed ties with Java, briefly quitting music and only bouncing back later after intervention from Scarfmore Records.
