MUTARE – Destiny for Africa Network (DANET) has dismissed its Manicaland Projects Manager, Wilson Masokovere, following a disciplinary hearing that he refused to attend.
The dismissal, handed down on December 4, 2025, follows serious allegations of insubordination, incompetence, and an attempted “boardroom coup.”
The hearing was convened on November 26, 2025, before Disciplinary Authority Mr. Cosam Gohori.
According to the findings, Masokovere was personally served with a notice to attend but failed to appear.
His legal representatives sent a letter stating he would not attend, and no application for a postponement was made. After a two-hour wait, the hearing proceeded in his absence.
The complainant, DANET founder and president Reverend Apostle Dr. Obadiah Musindo, testified that Masokovere had misrepresented himself as the organization’s “Chairman.”
As evidence, he presented a memorandum dated August 28, 2025, in which Masokovere called for an “Extra-Ordinary Meeting” and signed off using that title.
Dr. Musindo stated this was an act of insubordination and an “unlawful boardroom coup,” as he is the sole Founder, President, and Chairperson.
Masokovere was also charged with willful disobedience for allegedly obstructing a financial audit of housing projects in Manicaland.
Witnesses, including National Housing Secretary Gerald Mabika, testified that Masokovere had hired bouncers to prevent the audit team from accessing the office and had refused repeated requests, dating back to 2021, to provide financial records and project reports.
He was also accused of ignoring correspondence from the head office and refusing to vacate his office after being suspended.
In his ruling, the Disciplinary Authority cited legal precedent that deliberate absence from a hearing constitutes a waiver of the right to be heard.
With no defense presented, the Authority found Masokovere guilty on all charges, including conduct inconsistent with his contract, willful disobedience, and gross incompetence.
The ruling described Masokovere’s actions as a “calculated breach of his duty to obey his employer” and noted that his boycott of the hearing itself was a further sign of disrespect for authority.
The Disciplinary Authority concluded that the employment relationship had become untenable and ordered Masokovere’s dismissal with immediate effect.
He is entitled to his terminal benefits calculated up to the date of dismissal.
Masokovere has the right to appeal the decision by applying for conciliation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Services.
