Who knew that a gospel gathering could dazzle like a star-studded concert? The Celestial Chorus Volume 2 Soiree on New Year’s Eve proved to be a magical affair, delighting guests with a mix of worship, grandeur, and a celebration of life.
Held at the Harare International Conference Centre, the event brought together a select audience, mostly from the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. For some, it was a year-end celebration, while for others, it was a night of thanksgiving for the precious gifts of faith, hope, and life itself.
A Grand Affair with Local Flair
The evening’s black-tie elegance highlighted the depth of Zimbabwean talent and creativity. Event planner Kevin Zhou, better known as Kevin The Wedding Planner, transformed the venue into a spectacle of splendor, blending sophistication with charm.
Zhou, famed for orchestrating lavish celebrity parties, delivered a decor masterpiece that sparkled with brilliance. Meanwhile, Rumbidzai Matinanga curated a seamless stage and performance lineup.
Guests were treated to a sumptuous two-course meal featuring culinary delights by Chef Dananai.
The menu combined imported delicacies such as Japanese Wagyu beef with local flavors, including kudu and goat roast. Every bite spoke of thoughtful preparation, making the dining experience as memorable as the event itself.
Mocktails flowed generously—befitting a church gathering—complementing the sophisticated atmosphere in Zimbabwe’s largest and most luxurious marquee.
Music, Worship, and Memorable Moments
The night soared to new heights when award-winning worship artist Everton Mlalazi took to the stage as both emcee and entertainer. A proud Seventh-Day Adventist, Mlalazi delivered soul-stirring performances, joined by his daughters Natasha and Keisha, who charmed the audience with cameo appearances.
But the true stars of the night were the 44-piece choir and the breathtaking 100-piece orchestra, some members specially flown in for the occasion. Their harmonies filled the air, captivating the 3,000-plus attendees, including senior government officials, diplomats, and business leaders.
Among them were hosts Kuda Tagwireyi and his wife Sandra, whose heartfelt vote of thanks reflected their joy and gratitude. Tagwireyi’s words of encouragement, drawn from personal experiences, resonated deeply, inspiring many.
A Dazzling Close to a Perfect Night as the clock struck midnight, guests stepped outside under a full moon to witness a spectacular drone show.
The display painted the night sky with dazzling patterns and messages, leaving everyone in awe.
