Chedonje Primary School in Kadoma got a significant boost to its agricultural projects, thanks to the generosity of a local businessman who has funded the drilling of a borehole on the school’s premises.
The borehole will provide a reliable source of water for the school’s agricultural projects, including crop cultivation, animal husbandry and environmental conservation.
The future of agriculture at the school has been secured and the kindness of Mr Elliot Goliath was witnessed as he drilled a borehole to provide a reliable source of water for the school’s agricultural projects.
The drilling of the borehole is a significant development for the school, which has been struggling to access reliable water for its agricultural projects.
The borehole is expected to greatly enhance the school’s agricultural programs and provide a sustainable source of water for years to come.
The school’s agricultural projects are an integral part of its curriculum, providing learners with valuable skills and knowledge in areas such as crop management, animal husbandry and environmental conservation.
The donation of the borehole is expected to have a significant impact on the school’s agricultural programs.
According to the school’s Head Mr Tigerenashe Madekere, he said the borehole will provide a reliable source of water for irrigation purposes, enabling the school to expand its agricultural activities and improve crop yields.
“We are extremely grateful to Mr Goliath for his generous donation and the borehole will make a huge difference to our agricultural programs, and we are excited to see the impact it will have to the school and as well as the learners’ learning experiences.” said the Head.
The borehole, which was drilled to a normal depth,has a capacity to supply lots and lots of litres of water per hour and the school plans to use the borehole to irrigate its crops, including maize, vegetables and fruits.
During an interview with Mr Goliath, he said that he was motivated to make the donation after seeing the impact that limited access to water was having on the school’s agricultural programs.
“I believe that education is key to unlocking the potential of our young people, and I wanted to do something to support the school’s efforts to provide the learners with a well-rounded education.” said Mr Goliath.
“I am thrilled to see the borehole being put to good use, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the school and the local community.” Continued the entrepreneur who is into mining sector.
During an interview with the school’s head of projects Mr Becks Mabheka, he thanked the generosity of Mr Goliath for the support of the school’s agricultural projects and he said the borehole will enable them to reduce their reliance on rainwater and improve crop yields.He said this will have a positive impact on the learners, who will benefit from the hands-on experience and skills they gain from working on the agricultural projects.
“The installation of the borehole is a significant milestone for our school’s agricultural projects. We will now be able to grow a wider variety of crops, including those that require consistent irrigation. This will not only improve our yields but also provide our pupils with hands-on experience in farming and crop management.” said Mr Mabheka.
Building on the momentum of the borehole donation, two additional benefactors, Mr Simbarashe Maphosa and Mr Philimon Ndushu, stepped forward to support the school’s agricultural endeavors.
Their joint donation of two 5000 litre water tanks will provide a critical backup system for the school’s irrigation needs, safeguarding against water scarcity and ensuring a bountiful harvest.
“This is an example of community collaboration as Mr Maphosa and Mr Ndushu joined forces to support the school’s agricultural initiatives. Their donation of two 5000litre water tanks will provide a vital safety net for the school’s irrigation needs, ensuring that our learners have access to a consistent supply of water for their crops, regardless of the weather conditions.” said the School’s SDC chairperson Mr Jealous Mahachi.
Mr Goliath has also demonstrated his dedication to giving back to the community by providing school fees and uniforms to learners at the school.
This remarkable act of philanthropy will enable these learners to pursue their academic dreams without financial constraints.
The donation of the borehole by Mr Goliath is a shining example of the impact that individual acts of kindness can have on communities.
