Grammy award winning Nigerian superstar Burna Boy must have inspired Baba Harare on his upcoming album simply titled Zimbabwean Giant.
Of course, Afro fusion fans now know Burna Boy as the African Giant, following his massive hit album of the same title, Baba Harare appears to have borrowed from Last Last singer.
By titling his album Zimbabwean Giant, Baba Harare is making a bold statement to believers and non-believers.
While Burna Boy is into Afro-fusion, our very own Baba Harare born Bravemen Chizvino believes he can be the next Zimbabwean Giant on the global stage.
Whether that is true or false, it remains to be seen when the album drops on 4 November 2022, the holy month.
The tracklist isn’t out yet but one can guess that it has all the trappings of Baba Harare’s signature Jiti music, which unfortunately he waxes sexual innuendos to excite fans.
That formula has worked for him before especially when you go back to his breakaway hit The Reason Why?
But over time, Baba Harare has been criticized for trying too hard to continue on this path making sexual innuendos in his songs.
Others who treaded the same path not so long ago in the likes of Jacob Moyana did it but longevity in music was never guaranteed.
It is sad, Jacob Moyana who rose to fame with Munotidako has sunk into Oblivion.
The same could happen to Baba Harare if he doesn’t tread carefully not minding his lyrics.
A good song usually doesn’t take much. All it takes is melody and good arrangement of the lyrics.
And to launch Zimbabwean Giant, Baba Harare has set up a big party featuring some of the amazing voices.
On the bill are Suluman Chimbetu, ExQ, Leo Maggoz, Peter Moyo and Mai TT.
Admission is US$10 for ordinary and US$20 is for VIP.
