A classified document obtained by this publication has revealed stunning details of foreign companies and properties linked to erstwhile Zimbabwe Finance tsar Tendai Biti in a development that raises stink on the sources of wealth used to obtain them.

An online source obtained by this publication said a divorce case involving:
“Zimbabwean politician Tendai Biti and his ex-wife Charity Biti (née Maguwah) was filed in 2017 and exposed significant personal, financial, and legal dimensions. Below is a comprehensive analysis based on available information:
“1. Grounds for Divorce Charity Biti filed for divorce at the High Court in December 2017, citing an irretrievable breakdown of their 10-year marriage (solemnized in 2007). Key reasons included:
– Loss of mutual affection and love.
– Incompatibility as partners.
– Separation since August 2014 (no cohabitation as husband and wife) .
“The asset list sparked controversy, given Tendai’s criticism of “primitive accumulation of wealth” by ZANU-PF officials. Analysts questioned:
“How a former Finance Minister (2009–2013) and opposition figure acquired such wealth.
“Possible abuse of political positions or party funds (e.g., alleged diversion of MDC-T assets via Laphonic Investments).
“Comparisons were drawn to Ignatius Chombo (ZANU-PF), whose divorce also exposed unexplained properties.”
In conclusion the document said while the case was a decoy, it highlighted tensions between Biti’s public anti-corruption stance and his private asset portfolio, intensifying debates on political accountability in Zimbabwe.
While the divorce was settled on grounds of lost affection, its legacy lies in exposing the wealth dynamics among Zimbabwe’s elite.
The United Kingdom’s parliament- House of Commons, is currently under spotlight over how it will handle a petition put forward to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) by a Zimbabwean pressure group, Rise Up Zimbabwe over a litany of allegations against Biti.
Diplomatic sources have revealed to this publication that the FCDO has made extensive investigations on the petition and reached out to Biti for his side on the matter who reportedly rubbished the enquiry.
On the other hand, several British MPs have been engaged over the petition by representatives of the Zimbabwe pressure group for them to bring the matter formally in the House of Commons.
Fears abound that Biti may be in line to be slapped with an international arrest warrant over these and other issues.
