Zim dancehall musician George Tanjani who was popularly known as Jiggaz Di Antidot has died aged 39.
The versatile Jiggaz Di Antidot died from as yet unnamed ailment this morning in Harare according to colleagues.
Jasen Mphepo, a theatre practitioner who once worked with Jiggaz Di Antidot on several Pastime Trust project took to his official Facebook page and announced the death of the singer/actor/composer.
“It is with great sadness posting on this platform to announce the passing on of a young brother and colleague in the arts George Tanjani aka Jiggaz DI Antidot Tanjani 39 years.
“He leaves behind a wife and 7 children Bereavement at 4865 GlenNorah A Harare. Burial will be announced in due course,” Mphepo wrote.
Another theatre practitioner Daniel Maposa also shared his condolences to the Tanjani family.
“Very sad to announce the untimely passing on of my brother George Jigaz Tanjani this morning. Shocked and gutted. RIP Wamambo. Matungamira henyu Chirasha. Mwari ndivo vanoziva.”
A fan reacted: “Terrible news we used to call him lying George, when he would do perfect renditions of common tunes during our Patsime Trust outreach programs, MHSRIP.”
Another colleague Eddington Hatitongwe simply wrote: “Rest in peace # legend yes ndini ndadaro.”
Jiggaz would be best remembered for his Sting Clash alongside Baddman which also saw two rivalries Soul Jah Love and Seh Calaz going head to head.
While the Ja Love and Calaz was the headline clash, Jiggaz and Badman who were the curtain raisers gave fans something to talk about.
On the night that saw the City Sports Centre packed to the brim, Jiggaz had come prepared with a coffin to bury Baddman.
However, it was Jiggaz who went down fighting and he got respect of music lovers for his great artistry.
Outside the stage, Jiggaz was a talented actor and comedian.
During his stint at Patsime Trust, Jiggaz was more than an entertainer.
