LUSAKA – The drumbeats of Destination Zimbabwe are echoing across the Zambezi. As the sun rose over the Zambia Travel Expo (ZATEX) 2026 from 4–6 June, Zimbabwe stepped into the spotlight not just as a neighbour, but as a powerhouse of African tourism.
Through the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), the country has unleashed a dazzling showcase of its most competitive products—from the thunderous spray of Victoria Falls to the ancient stone whispers of Great Zimbabwe.
This year, Zimbabwe is not merely exhibiting; it is telling a story. A story that weaves together the untamed wilderness of Mana Pools, the elephant highways of Hwange National Park, the sunsets over Lake Kariba, the misty cathedrals of the Eastern Highlands, and the royal heritage of Bulawayo.
The message to international tour operators and exhibitors is clear: Zimbabwe is ready to be your leading multi-destination hub.
The expo reached its crescendo with a distinguished visit to the Zimbabwean pavilion. Her Honour Mutale Nalumango, Vice President of Zambia, crossed the floor to experience the warmth of Destination Zimbabwe.
She was received by Her Excellency Charity Charamba, Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Zambia, alongside Dr. George Manyaya (CEO of ZTA) and Mrs. Gladys Chinyerere (Director Domestic Tourism).
The Vice President’s presence was more than ceremonial. It underscored the deep bilateral love affair between Zimbabwe and Zambia—a partnership cemented by the shared roar of the Victoria Falls.
At ZATEX, the conversations are deeper than booking flights. Zimbabwe is using this strategic platform to drive forward-thinking agendas, including:
Multi-destination tourism (one trip, two countries, infinite memories)
Climate-resilient development (protecting paradise for generations)
Community-based tourism (where locals are the heroes of the story)
Gastronomy tourism (because the journey goes through the stomach)
Innovation-driven experiences (tech meets tradition)

The energy in Lusaka is also building massive momentum for Zimbabwe’s flagship event. All roads—and flights—will lead to Masvingo later this year for the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo 2026.
If the performance at ZATEX is anything to go by, Zimbabwe is no longer just a destination. It is a statement.
From the majesty of the Eastern Highlands to the hospitality of the people, Zimbabwe is open, available, and unforgettable.
