Zimbabwe’s comedian Learnmore Jonasi, 31, from Chimanimani put up a splendid performance when he featured on reality television show — America’s Got Talent — getting a Golden Buzzer which allows him to go straight into round of Live Shows.
Jonasi who is more popularly known as Long John in stand-up comedy wowed the judges who gave him some rave reviews for sending the packed auditorium into jibes of laughter.
He started off with narration of life back in the village in Chimanimani, where despite having the scenic views is still under-developed.
He joked that from poor communication network to having a traffic light in a place where don’t drive but ride on donkeys.
The audience also broke into laughter after he joked about his cultural shock when he saw for the first time some “poor white people”.
A video clip from the show has been trending on various social but it is not all rosy for Long John especially when you are dealing with hard to please Zimbabweans.
Surprisingly Jonasi got overwhelming four Yeses from the judges including Simon Cowell who loved the performance.
“I actually think you are one of the funniest people we have had over the years, you got it, I was laughing so much you were having the best time as well. Unfortunately, you now stuck with us,” Cowell said.
Heidi Klum said: “Coming out as hard as it is, to come from another country where English isn’t even is not only your first language not only communicate with everybody but tickle everybody make this a better place you are truly amazing.”
And Sofia Vergara said: “You funny you look great I love your spirit, your accent all of it.”
While Howie Mandel said: “I think you were good from top to bottom this is the most fun time we have had today.”
There were mixed feelings following Long John’s success.
One X user commented: “Mixed feelings for me mukoma Henry. I am just praying no one from my workplace sees this. Things are bad and we’ve just taken the limelight for exposing it ourselves!”
A second wrote: “Didn’t find it funny though actually feel offended.”
A third replied: “All depends with the angle you are seeing it from.”
