Magunje, Zimbabwe – A strong message of unity, empowerment, and commitment to Vision 2030 echoed through the halls of Magunje’s Vocational Training Centre, where women from across Mashonaland West Province gathered for a high-energy Women’s League event.
Secretary for Women’s Affairs, Mabel Chinomona, delivered a stirring address, calling on women to uplift one another and remain focused on building a self-sustaining future.
“My sisters, let us work tirelessly towards Vision 2030,” Chinomona urged.
“Let us support one another, love one another, and walk together as one family. I am always here to uplift you. Leave no one, no place behind.”
With just two years remaining to achieve national development goals under Vision 2030, Chinomona emphasized the critical role women play in their families, communities, and the broader nation.
“A woman must stand firm to feed the family. A woman is the backbone of this country,” she said to resounding applause.
Chinomona praised the work of Mashonaland West Women’s League Chairlady, Constance Shamhu, for her exemplary leadership and tireless efforts to mobilize women at the grassroots level.
“She leads by example and drives initiatives like this one. These gatherings are key – they empower, uplift, and bring us closer to the Zimbabwe we envision.”
Also present was Hon. Marian Chombo, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, who welcomed Chinomona and applauded the event’s focus on women’s economic participation.
“This program is an excellent initiative that encourages women to work hard,” said Chombo.
She referenced the recent US$300,000 disbursement by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to Women’s Leagues across all provinces, underscoring the government’s ongoing commitment to female empowerment.
The atmosphere at the event was one of celebration and determination. Attendees spoke passionately about new projects, skills training, and community upliftment initiatives they plan to pursue — all inspired by the event’s message of collective progress.
Provincial Chairlady Constance Shamhu, visibly moved by the day’s success, said she was “more than happy” with the turnout and the energy of the women present.
Chinomona also extended her appreciation to MPs working diligently in their constituencies and singled out Hon. Chinjai for her consistent dedication.
As the day concluded, the Women’s League gathering stood as a powerful reminder: when women unite, no challenge is insurmountable.
The drive toward Vision 2030 is not just a national mission — it is a sisterhood in motion, determined to leave no one behind.
