Legendary radio presenter and DJ Tony D is set to join forces with his contemporary Tich Mataz for an old skool reunion that promises to take mature music lovers down memory lane.
The iconic duo will be spinning tracks at Grill Garden for the Mature Mixer, presented by Coyom Events, on 9 August 2026.
In a video promo that sent waves of excitement through the old skool community, Tony D confirmed his place on the line-up alongside his long-time peer Tich Mataz.
Known for his signature smooth RnB sound, Tony D was a household name during his golden days at ZBC’s Radio 3 — now Power FM — and remains a firm favourite for those who grew up grooving to his silky selections.
But don’t mistake nostalgia for retirement.
Tony D is very much still in the game, and he’s promised old skool music lovers a night to remember.
“I’ll be rocking the house,” he declared in the promo, setting hearts racing for what promises to be a night of pure rhythm and reminiscence.
The Mature Mixer is no ordinary club night.
Tailored specifically for a mature audience, it offers something refreshingly different — a sophisticated evening designed for genuine connection, great conversation, and timeless music, far from the noise and chaos of typical singles’ nights.
From the moment guests arrive, the vibe is clear: thoughtfully planned, smoothly run, and crafted with real connection in mind.
The previous edition saw DJs Tich Mataz and Davies Mugadza behind the decks, keeping the atmosphere warm and inviting — a perfect backdrop for conversation rather than overpowering it.
Guests also enjoyed a spread of delicious food and a generous lineup of prizes, adding an extra layer of excitement to the night.
Rather than following a well-worn formula, Coyom Events built the Mature Mixer around an innovative concept aimed squarely at mature singles — a demographic organisers felt had been largely overlooked by the mainstream events space.
Speaking on the success of the concept, Coyom Events Director Brenda Zengeya explained the thinking behind it:
“Our research found that there was a real need for mature singles to make connections with other singles in a safe, convivial atmosphere and surroundings, and that is the need we met.”
That research-driven approach appears to have paid off. Feedback from the previous edition was overwhelmingly positive, with guests praising the organisation, the setting at Grill Garden, and the relaxed yet lively energy that ran through the night.
