The Ollah 7 Podcast kicked off its first anniversary with a bang, setting a new standard for podcasting in Zimbabwe.

Last Friday’s event, held at Long Cheng Plaza’s Marina Casino, brought together the crème de la crème of the country’s showbiz scene for a night of glitz, glamour, and celebration.

What made this event even more special? It was the first time in Zimbabwean podcasting history that a podcast marked its milestone with such style and grandeur.

Minister Muswere and DJ Ollah

Hosted by the ever-charismatic Owen Madondo, better known as DJ Ollah—formerly of Star FM—this podcast is his passion project that’s quickly become a game-changer in local digital media.

The Ollah 7 Podcast is more than just another talk show. It’s a platform where DJ Ollah (32) continues his legacy of profiling the hottest trending topics, interviewing everyone from artists and actors to fashion icons, preachers, and socialites.

The podcast, in many ways, carries on the spirit of his former radio show, On The Spot, but with a fresh and dynamic twist, all in Shona—a language that resonates deeply with the masses.

But let’s talk about the anniversary bash! The night was nothing short of spectacular, with a red carpet rolled out for VIP guests as the venue transformed into a hub of style and sophistication.

The emcee for the evening, Tich Mataz, brought his A-game, effortlessly keeping the crowd engaged and entertained.

The guest speakers were a who’s who of Zimbabwe’s influential figures. Talk show host Rebecca Chisamba (aka Mai Chisamba) shared her admiration for DJ Ollah’s contribution to the media landscape, while property mogul Dr Philip Chiyangwa applauded the podcast’s growth and even promised a major advertising deal for the show.

National Arts Council Director Napoleon Nyanhi, aka Napster, reflected on the rise of podcasting in Zimbabwe, encouraging aspiring entrepreneurs to venture into the space.

Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services, Jenfan Muswere, also gave a heartfelt speech, celebrating the freedom of expression that platforms like the Ollah 7 Podcast represent.

The highlight of the night? A delicious cake, tons of laughter, music, and an unforgettable dance-off. Attendees couldn’t help but join in the celebrations, and it was clear that the Ollah 7 Podcast had firmly cemented itself as a key player in the entertainment and media industries.

With an ever-growing audience and even bigger things on the horizon, DJ Ollah and his team are surely setting the stage for even greater success in the world of podcasting. Here’s to many more milestones to come!
