Teemak Breaks Silence on Scandal, Debuts Explosive EP

By Jonathan Mbiriyamveka

He’s back—with a banger and a backstory.

Controversial music promoter-turned-artist Teemak has re-emerged from years of silence, ready to shake up Zimbabwe’s music scene—not as the man behind the scenes, but as the man on the mic.

Teemak, who made headlines for all the wrong reasons after a crypto investment scandal that saw him plunge into debt, is finally setting the record straight.

“Yes, I still owe some people—but I’ve paid others back,” he revealed. “I was just 23, juggling too many things. The crypto business failed, but I’ve learned my lesson.”

Now based in the UAE, the outspoken creative has returned home with a mission—and a mic. His latest project? A sleek 6-track solo EP titled Mavambo (which means “The Beginning”) that marks his official pivot from promoter to performer.

From Scandal to Soundtrack

Fans remember Teemak as the driving force behind Enzo Ishall’s rise during the Zimdancehall wave of 2015–2016. But that was then. Now, Teemak is front and center, and he’s singing a very different tune.

“Music has always been my first love,” he says. “I was making songs with my mom at 12. It’s time the world hears my voice.”

Inside Mavambo: Big Feels, Big Production

The EP doesn’t hold back. From the emotionally charged “Painful”—a betrayal anthem with cinematic visuals shot in Nigeria—to the smooth, romantic “Something Special,” Teemak is out to prove he’s not just a savvy businessman, but a legit artist with range.

The visuals? Clean. Polished. High-budget. Teemak is clearly investing in quality—and he’s not here to play small.

Comeback Season or Flash in the Pan?

With Mavambo, Teemak isn’t just dropping music—he’s making a statement. Can he stay out of the headlines and on the charts? That remains to be seen. But love him or hate him, he’s back—and everyone’s watching.

Stream Mavambo now and witness the rebirth of Teemak.
