Key stakeholders gathered at Cooksey Hall to review progress and outline strategies for Mashonaland West’s continued development.
While the province has made notable strides across various sectors, participants stressed the need for sustained collaboration to address ongoing challenges—particularly veldfires.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon. Marian Chombo, highlighted several achievements, including the commissioning of a Smelter Expansion Plant and a 35 MW Solar Plant at ZIMPLATS in Selous.
She also noted the rehabilitation of the provincial Heroes Shrine and the successful hosting of the 3rd Edition Mashonaland West Investment Conference, which drew over 150 potential investors.
Hon. Chombo emphasized the need to leverage human capital and strengthen partnerships with the private sector and development partners to boost economic growth.
She called for urgent collective action to tackle veldfires, which continue to threaten homes, wildlife, and livelihoods.
“Let’s work together in firefighting efforts and implement effective measures to combat these fires. Together, we can build a brighter future for our province,” she said.
The meeting concluded with a unified call to action, as stakeholders committed to working together to overcome obstacles and drive inclusive growth.
