Sir Wicknell Finally Opens Up About Freeman HKD Feud

By Jonathan Mbiriyamveka

It all started with a silent snub.

And for months, Zimbabweans have wondered: why has flamboyant businessman and philanthropist Sir Wicknell Chivayo gifted luxury cars to nearly every big name in the music industry—except Freeman HKD?

Now, Sir Wicknell has finally broken his silence.

In a candid social media exchange, the millionaire revealed that the rift wasn’t about money or music—it was about respect, or what he felt was a lack of it.

It all came to a head when Sir Wicknell posted a congratulatory message to musician ExQ, who just received a shiny new Mercedes Benz GLE. As usual, the comment section lit up with suggestions for the next beneficiary.

“Top fan, I think HKD boss is next,” wrote follower Namatai Yolanda Matorofa.

That’s when Sir Wicknell decided to tell the real story.

“Namatai, you’re right,” he responded. “I had reservations with him because he failed to acknowledge my presence one time at HICC. I said to myself, this young man has no respect.”

He went on to explain that at many local shows, it’s almost tradition for artists to give shout-outs to VIPs and elites in the crowd. That night? Nothing. And Sir Wicknell didn’t forget.

But then came the twist.

“I forgave him,” Sir Wicknell wrote. “So, I think he’s a good choice.”

So, what changed? Love—or at least, family pressure.

“My wife’s entire family loves his music,” he admitted. “They keep asking me, ‘Why do you hate him?’”

And just like that, years of perceived disrespect melted away—thanks to a few persistent in-laws and a hit song or two.

Now, with the “beef” officially squashed, all eyes are back on Exquisite Car Sales. Could Freeman HKD be the next to drive off in a brand-new whip from Mukuru Wema Zuva himself?

If the family has anything to do with it—don’t bet against it.
