In what is probably a first and shocking news to fans and pundits of the OK Grand Challenge, this year they will be asked to pay to attend.
Previously, fans and pundits were allowed to attend for free but this year organisers — OK — have pegged entry fees at US$1 for ordinary access and then US$3 for VIP access.
Earlier the poster of the event has raised the ire of social media users after it seemed to suggest that Alick Macheso was a supporting act.
According to the draft poster Macheso aka Baba Shero appeared smaller and in the background of Jah Prayzah which most fans thought it suggested that Jah Prayzah was bigger than Macheso in terms of status.
However, the latest draft of the poster was adjusted with both Jah Prayzah and Macheso appearing as equals while the rest of the ChillSpot Family were placed at the bottom of the poster suggesting they were indeed supporting acts.
The OK Grand Challenge is one of the most anticipated Horse Racing after the Castle Tankard which was held on May 6 at Borrowdale Racecourse.
And now the OK Grand Challenge which is also slated the same venue will see music performances by Orchestra Mberikwazvo and 3rd Generation.
Macheso is still riding on the success of his latest release Tinosvitwa Nashe while Jah Prayzah recently launched his 12th and 13th album Chiremerera and Maita Baba respectively.
The only big name not on the bill is Zim dancehall star Winky D, a decision social media users questioned.
Previously, Winky D would fit the same bill but this year it appears due to tight budgets organisers were unable to hire the Ninja president.
Outside of the horse racing and betting, the after-party at the OK Grand challenge has always been the drawcard of multitudes of music lovers.
