Zim dancehall sensation Seh Calaz, known for his hit Mumota Menyu Mukubvira, has bravely revealed that he’s been struggling with severe ulcers that nearly derailed his music career.
Despite his energetic stage performances, the 31-year-old singer confessed that behind the mic, he’s been battling excruciating pain that often leaves him physically drained.
In an emotional post on his official Facebook page, Seh Calaz, whose real name is Tawanda Mumanyi, expressed his gratitude to his fans, thanking them for their unwavering support as he bravely faced his health crisis.
“Mabhanditi angu, Dai Mwari vakupai zvido zvemoyo mukururarama,” he wrote, meaning he hopes his followers continue to live healthy lives, just as he hopes for a speedy recovery.
The artist didn’t hold back in sharing the severity of his condition, which he says is caused by ulcers and excessive acid.
“Nyama dzirikurwadza amana…,” he continued, referring to the intense pain he’s been enduring.
He explained that while many might have thought he was simply performing without a care in the world, he was actually suffering in silence.
The “Mabhanditi” hitmaker also took the opportunity to share a powerful health message, advising people to eat healthy, given the increasing number of unhealthy foods circulating.
“Zvikafu nezvinwiwa zvazara muno hazviko,” he warned, emphasizing the importance of making wise dietary choices to avoid health issues like the one he’s currently battling.
Seh Calaz, who has been a popular figure in Zimbabwe’s dancehall scene, also opened up about the rumors circulating on social media. Some fans speculated that his health struggles might be the result of foul play by unknown enemies. He dismissed these claims, focusing instead on his gratitude for being alive, despite the challenge.
Thanking friends and supporters, he specifically acknowledged music promoter Partson Chimbodza, as well as radio DJs Etheron Beenie, Fantan, and Godfather Templeman, for their encouragement and support during this tough time.
But the drama didn’t stop there. In a twist of typical Mabhanditi flair, Seh Calaz also took a dig at his long-time rival, Winky D. The two stars have had a rocky relationship for years, and this recent spat only fuels the fire.
Seh Calaz accused Winky D of orchestrating a campaign to sabotage his performances, claiming that the Pirates hitmaker was behind efforts to block him from major shows.
The revelations are sure to ignite tensions between the two artists, with Winky D’s loyal fans, the MaGaffa, expected to defend their hero fiercely.
Despite the personal and professional battles, Seh Calaz remains resolute, vowing to continue delivering music to his fans.
“I’ve been trying to be strong through the festive season, despite everything weighing me down,” he confessed.
“But now, it’s time to return to the stage and show you all that I’m here to stay.”
