Catch them young!
This is what Zimbabwe’s wealthiest football club, Scottland FC, is aiming after their exhibition at the on-going Zimbabwe Agricultural Show.
Its a first for Zimbabwean football, that s sports team has marketed itself at the country’s biggest commercial exhibition.
Scottland FC have been setting the trend in their debut top-flight season: from signing big names players, drawing a wide support base – especially the young generation.
The Zimbabwe Agricultural Show is therefore a befitting exhibition for them, being generally a meeting place for the young and young at heart.
By showcasing at the Harare Show, parents may be interested in enrolling their children at immaculate Scottland Football Academy in Ruwa.
According to club vice-chairperson, Beadle Musa Gwasira, the move to exhibit at Harare Agricultural Show was deliberate to extend their appeal to a wider cross of audiences while also attracting new members.
Gwasira said it was a platform to sell the team to the outside world through foreign visitors who attend the Harare Agric Show.
So far, the trick has worked in their favour as hordes of showgoers are throning the well put out stand complete with a stage, fields game and obviously music.
This is had magical as it provided the team with building a brand synonymous with professionalism, transparency and pride.
Those lucky enough were given branded freebies which are of high quality while some enjoy their time just mingling with some of the best on the field of play.
Showgoers were also treated to table football, which proved a firm favourite for many, penalty shootout and FIFA Challenge as well as lots of giveaways.
On Tuesday, some of the players had a meet and greet with fans as well as sign autographs after purchasing the club’s merchandise.
Perhaps Friday is a day not to be missed as Scottland FC’s president Pedzai Scott Sakupwanya hosts what is known as president’s night, a cocktail even for their supporters and stakeholders.
And Saturday will be a family fun day for those that want tohang outt at the stand while partaking in some of the gaming activities.
There is no denying that Scottland FC has brought that enthusiasm about local football and an impetus that was fast fading away due to other issues.
Whenever Scottland FC is mentioned, there is a keen interest from audiences to know more of their flamboyant business magnet president Scott or the players themselves.
And now that enthusiasm is spilling to even supporters, the men and the women who throng to watch Scottland FC, they are not your average people but big spenders, weirdos and wanna-bes!
