CAPTION STORY: One of urban grooves pioneering musician Roki has laid claim that he is the most talented creative and vocalist in Zimbabwe. Roki previously had been known as a bad boy in music but he has since dropped off that tag to hog the limelight once again beginning with his collabo Patati Patata alongside Congolese rhumba giant Koffi Olomide and he followed it up with Screen Shot both of which were produced under Passion Java Records.
While his flirtation with self-styled prophet Passion Java is a story for another day, Roki seems to have won the hearts of believers and non-believers dropping hit after hit in quicky succession and claiming his top spot. The only problem though is that he might face resistance for simply aligning himself with Passion Java who most see as sympathetic to the ruling Zanu PF.
In a country which is as divided along political lines as Zimbabwe it is hard for any artiste to get away with it as there is always criticism from either side.
The Aiiyao hitmaker took to his Facebook and posted a picture of himself wearing a red bandana looking upwards with the caption: “Nomatter what anyone says, I will always say you’re the most talented and creative vocalist in our country, and I mean it self-love,” and punctuated it with a heart emoji. There were thousands of comments with many of his followers agreeing with the youthful legend. One fan Chido Cverb Mbuvah commented: “We believe in you.” The second fan Sororemvumba Author of replied: “of course, king.” A third fan Yvonne Chaks wrote: “They can’t take away your voice, your talent.”
A fourth fan Patience Mbiriri said: “True story I remember how you performed at Mudziyashe Resort wakasumudza chaunga ,you are a super star dear, and no one can take that away from you #I will always be a fan.”
