KWEKWE – The River Valley Group of companies has pledged to extend support to vulnerable communities in the Midlands Province, reaffirming its commitment to charity and national progress during the Midlands Provincial Independence Ball held Friday in Kwekwe.
The prestigious annual event, hosted by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon. Owen “Mudha” Ncube, is designed to raise essential funds for vulnerable communities across the province.
The initiative aligns with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s mantra of “leaving no one and no place behind” — a central developmental philosophy aimed at fostering inclusive economic growth and infrastructural development as Zimbabwe pursues upper-middle-income status by 2030.
The philosophy promotes grassroots development through devolution and targeted projects to reduce inequality and marginalization.
As part of the buildup to Independence Day celebrations, the Midlands Ball united business leaders, corporate partners, politicians, government officials, and civil society advocates in a collective mission to uplift marginalized households and support local welfare initiatives, marking 46 years since the country gained independence from colonial rule.
The River Valley Group’s latest pledge — which includes both cash and school fees — highlights not only its dedication to social responsibility but also the deep personal commitment of Group Chairman Engineer Dr. Mncedisi Dube and CEO Amb. Professor Smelly Dube, who believe the private sector has a pivotal role in nation-building beyond mere commercial interests.
“Supporting the Midlands Provincial Independence Ball aligns perfectly with our long-standing philosophy of giving back to the community,” Professor Dube said.
“We believe in empowering those in need and fostering sustainable development across the province.”
The contribution continues River Valley Group’s legacy of philanthropy. Since the inception of the Provincial Minister’s charity initiative, the company has consistently supported efforts aimed at improving lives in the region.
Renowned for its active role in community development, River Valley Group has previously spearheaded scholarship programs, disaster relief efforts, and local infrastructure upgrades.
With this latest pledge, the company reaffirms its commitment to driving positive change and inspiring hope in the communities it serves.
“Together, through collective action and generosity, we can build a brighter, more equitable future for all,” the River Valley CEO said.
