Talented hip-hop star — Maskiri — has made a comeback with the release of Mbinga from Binga in which takes aim at erstwhile rappers Stunner, Mudiwa among several other new names.
The track which dropped on June 26, 2021 has so far streamed over 80 000 and trending at number #4 on YouTube.
Mbinga from Binga samples Coolio’s yester-year hit C U When U Get There and he announces his comeback to Covid-19 which inspired most of his punchlines.
In one line he says he’s been well received by both hands like a person using sanitizer while in another line he says he’s made a quick comeback like ‘lockdown’ since there is a ‘curfew’.
He takes shots at new rappers saying they were discovered last year like Zumbani, again a fever herb used in protection against Covid-19, but some though he was targeting at the likes of Ti Gonzi and Holy Ten who have been running the game of late.
He sings that he is loved by women but they don’t know where he stays. He also mentions that he is the real gee.
He raps that most rappers have tried but still can’t compare to him and he was still on the throne.
But the biggest line perhaps is where he makes reference to gruesome murder of Tapiwa Makore which gripped the entire nation.
So controversial are the lyrics on Tapiwa Makore have caused quite an uproar on social media with some users saying the lyrics were ‘insensitive’ and ‘in bad taste’.
Maskiri whose real name is Alishias Musimbe makes reference to the late Tapiwa Makore. The 7-year-old from Murehwa was killed in horrific premeditated murder for ritual purposes in a case that shocked the country.
In his response, Maskiri took to his Facebook and defended the verse saying it was pure metaphor.
