Raffingora – The current power challenges being experienced in the country and Southern African countries has also affected the medical sector that requires constant power supplies to preserve the quality and efficacy of some medicines.
Rural hospitals have been mostly affected by power outages resulting in them failing to adequately stock enough medicinal supplies which moved the country’s telecommunication regulator, Potraz to join government efforts in supplying clean energy power to medical facilities across the country.
Raffingora Hospital in Zvimba is the latest beneficiary of Potraz‘s corporate responsibility generosity after Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Hon Marian Chombo officially commissioned and handed over a 5KVA Solar power for the hospital.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to POTRAZ for their generous donation, which will greatly benefit our community. Their efforts to promote development in our province are truly commendable.
“Today, POTRAZ has donated solar-powered equipment, medical supplies, and other essential items to our clinic. We are grateful for their support, which will undoubtedly improve the lives of our people.”
Minister Chombo said during the official handover ceremony where she also handed over food hampers to 130 beneficiaries of people living with disabilities.
“I am happy that Potraz is ploughing back into the community and they are empowering communities through initiatives such as community information centers ensuring connectivity of many areas and assisting with schools with computer laboratories which ensures that no place is left behind in the country’s development agenda,” she said.
Zvimba District Development Cordinator Joseph Manyurapasi hailed the donation as life changing gesture for the people of Raffingora.
“I want to appreciate this generous gesture that will go a long way in ensuring that our medicines are well kept appropriately and we want to thank Potraz for coming on board to support our medical facility” he said
Kennedy Dewera, from Postal and Telecommunication Regulation Authority who was representing Director General Gift Machechengete said the authority was accelerating its corporate responsibility in the country as they want to create strong ties with communities.
He said the authority will continue to ensure telecommunication customers receive a fair and balanced services value their money.
