Pink Run Hero: Legal Expert Gives Back to Kariba

KARIBA – The Kariba Pink Run kicked off with a strong message of service to the community this week, as participants took to the streets for the charity event and supporters joined in a show of solidarity around health awareness and legal assistance.

Among the walkers was Mrs. Clara Phiri, 56, a legal practitioner from Phiri and Associates, who took part in the belated Kariba Pink Run after completing a six-kilometre route from Total Garage to Lake Harvest Sports Club.

During the event, Mrs. Phiri was joined by fellow participants and organisers who offered free legal advice to community members on key matters, emphasising the importance of access to justice for everyone.

The free advice sessions focused on encouraging people to seek clarity on legal issues, and attendees were urged to take practical steps when dealing with common disputes.

Speaking to participants after completing the route, Mrs. Phiri shared her motivation for joining the run and supporting the event’s wider community efforts.

“As a long-serving legal practitioner, I decided to give back to the community. I have worked in Kariba for more than 30 years, so I should support the community,” said Phiri.

Her participation highlighted the role of professionals and community-minded individuals in strengthening public support for charity initiatives.

The Kariba Pink Run is a non-profit organisation, run by volunteers and driven by community service rather than profit-making interests.

The event is headed by Believe Marufu, who helped coordinate the programme and mobilise participants for the charitable cause. Volunteers were also actively involved in supporting participants and organising the legal advice segments for those who attended.

“We thank everyone who volunteered and participated in this year’s Kariba Pink Run,” said Marufu. “It’s a non-profit initiative meant to give back to the community, and we appreciate all partners who show up with support, time, and care.”

Organisers said the combination of a physical challenge, community unity, and access to legal guidance made the event especially meaningful for residents.

With many participants walking or running together, the Kariba Pink Run continued its focus on promoting awareness while ensuring the community received practical support.

As the event concluded at Lake Harvest Sports Club, organisers expressed hope that the goodwill shown on the day will inspire more people to volunteer, participate, and support future community-led initiatives.
