A Kadoma philanthropist recently donated wheelchairs and residential stands to persons with disabilities in Chakari.
The generous donation brought joy and independence to individuals who previously struggled with mobility, and has shed light on the importance of inclusivity and accessibility in our communities.
Professor Kudakwashe Taruberekera through Craft Properties Private Limited handed over brand new wheelchairs to persons with disabilities much to the delight of the recipients who were gathered at Easterlea Primary School during the handover ceremony of two school blocks and ore block Ablution flashing facility and an 85-meter borehole in Chakari last week. The wheelchairs were handed over to an Association which oversees the welfare of persons with disabilities.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Craft Properties Private Limited Professor Kudakwashe Taruberekera emphasized the importance of supporting marginalised groups, stating that everyone deserved equal opportunities and access to resources.
” I am humbled to contribute to the well-being of our disabled community and the Company took heed of what the President of the second republic His Excellence Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s philosophy of nyika inovakwa nevene vayo, brick upon brick and stone upon stone without leaving no one and no place behind and these achievements alongside our previous philanthropic works exemplifying our mission to be catalyst for positive change and 10 wheelchairs and 15 residential stands are to be donated to persons with disabilities in our society so that they will maneuver from one place to another with easy and well as descent accommodation,” said Professor Taruberekera
“The wheelchairs, designed for durability and comfort, will enable recipients to navigate their surroundings with ease, accessing essential services and social activities and the residential stands offer a secure and stable living environment, empowering individuals to build their own homes and create a sense of community,” he said.
Mashonaland West Chairperson for persons with disabilities Mr Moses Marufu, said the Association was happy to receive the wheelchairs and residential stands for persons with disabilities.
He said the Company showed that they have persons with disabilities at heart.
“We are deeply humbled and grateful for the extraordinary kindness shown by Craft Properties Private Limited and their double donation of 10 wheelchairs and 15 residential stands is a game changer for people with disabilities in our community,” said Mr Marufu.
Mr Marufu said the Association was pleased and it was a groundbreaking moment for the disability constituency.
“This is a groundbreaking moment for our disability constituency and Craft Properties Private Limited has set a high standard for corporate social responsibility and the stands will provide a safe and secure environment for persons with disabilities who often face discrimination and marginalisation when seeking accommodation,” said Marufu.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude and joy, with one recipient saying, ‘This wheelchair means freedom for me and I can now attend functions and participate in social events without barriers.” said one beneficiary
Professor Taruberekera, a selfless philanthropist from Kadoma is making a tangible difference in the lives of persons with disabilities in Zimbabwe. The handover ceremony was attended by Minister of Primary and Secondary Hon Tonderayi Moyo ( Mp) , Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Hon July Moyo, Mashonaland West Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Hon Marian Chombo who was represented, Government officials, Provincial Education Director Mr Gabriel Mhumha, Sanyati District Schools Inspector Mr Majasi, Heads of Schools, Sanyati DDC Mr Mhlanga, community leaders, and representatives from disability organizations among other dignitaries.
