Harare — NetOne Pvt Ltd Company Secretary Plaxedes Chikutu is expected to appear in court this Wednesday, facing allegations of obstructing justice in a criminal case involving two of the company’s employees.
According to Express Mail Zim, Chikutu was arrested this week by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC).
The charges stem from her alleged interference in the investigation of Billing Engineer Anotida Munyaradzi and Brand Officer Linda Mutemeri, both accused of hacking into company systems and engaging in financial misconduct.
Chikutu allegedly bypassed internal protocols when she suspended the two employees in July 2024 without consulting NetOne’s Human Resources or Loss Control departments. This move was reportedly in violation of the company’s standard procedures.
Following the suspension, the two employees retained their company-issued laptops. One of the devices was allegedly formatted and wiped of data, reportedly under Chikutu’s instruction not to surrender it — a decision that may have led to the loss of key evidence in the ongoing police investigation.
In January 2025, Chikutu is said to have recommended the employees’ reinstatement and the payment of outstanding salaries, citing procedural irregularities during their initial suspension.
She is expected to appear before the Rotten Row Magistrates Court in Harare, where the matter will be heard.
