Masvingo’s Mucheke Stadium will this Saturday be a hive of activity as 10 groups from Zimbabwe gather for the 2024 Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival national finals.
There will be something for everyone including music, food and dance for festival goers with great entertainment on the big stage as the groups battle it out for the ultimate prize of US$15 000 while the runners-up will walk away with US$10 000 and US$7 500 respectively.
To cap it all, there is going to be an after-party featuring some of the top musicians the likes of Jah Prayzah, Killer T and Tocky Vibes aka Chamakuvangu.
All the musicians have already hyped up the show promising music lovers a whale of a time in Zimbabwe’s oldest town.
Man of the moment Killer T aka Chairman is likely to steal the show with his monster hit Kana Ndanyura, whose dance challenge has already reached viral status.
The draw card is that festival goers will attend the show absolutely free at the gate.
Delta Corporation marketing director, Irimayi Muzorewa, said all was set for the much-hyped Chibuku Neshamwari national finals.
“We are all set for the grand finale in Masvingo as we promote local talent and celebrate the diverse cultural dances in Zimbabwe.
“As always, we are proud to associate Brand Chibuku with our customers and pledge to make the finals worthwhile. May the best group win,” Muzorewa said.
Some of the dances to look forward to at the festival include Chinyambera, Dinhe, Mbakumba, Mhande, Mutshongoyo, Nyau, Nsubule and Setapa.
Proudly presented in collaboration with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) and the Zimbabwe National Traditional Dance Association (ZNTDA), the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival 2024 will celebrate culture through traditional dance with the theme “Tamba Tione, Gida Sibone!”
