Frelimo Secretary General, HE Daniel Chapo on Friday emphasized collaboration between Zimbabwe and Mozambique while throwing his weight behind the construction of Museum of African Liberation and Samora Machel Monument in Harare.
Speaking during his visit at the site, Daniel Chapo said both the Museum of African Liberation and the Samora-Mashero Monument hold significant historical and cultural value for the African continent.
“We express our commitment to expediting the construction of the Samora Machel Monument, which holds a symbolic position next to the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Heritage Monument along Samora Machel Avenue,” Chapo said.
“The inseparable bond between Zimbabwe and Mozambique, shows the need for solidarity and collaboration as we move forward with these monumental projects.”
Institute of African Knowledge Chief Executive Officer Ambassador Kwame Muzawazi said:” The Museum of African Liberation, as highlighted by Daniel Chapo, is more than just a physical structure it is a bridge that connects the historical, cultural, and educational aspects of Africa.
“Chapo’s vision extends beyond the physical construction of these monuments as it encompasses the mental liberation of the African people, underlining the need for economic freedom as a crucial aspect of Africa’s development.”
The visit to Zimbabwe served as a poignant reminder of the African people’s shared history, struggles, and aspirations.

As part of the tour of the Liberation City Chapo witnessed the micro-museum where he saw the furniture which was given to former president Robert Mugabe by Machel on 18 April during Zim’s Independence Day celebrations, museum recording studio, the Mozambique site set for the Samora Machel monument, the Zim Defence Forces Exhibition Park before he watered the Mozambique Solidarity Tree planted adjacent to the Mozambican national flag among other developments.
