Chinhoyi – Preparations for the 2025 Mashonaland West Agricultural Show are well underway, with organizers promising an event packed with innovation, education, and entertainment.
Speaking ahead of the showcase, Mashonaland West Agricultural Show Society Chairman Godfrey Mavankeni expressed confidence in this year’s edition, set to run from August 6 to 9, 2025.
“I am pleased to announce that preparations are progressing exceptionally well,” Mavankeni said. “This year’s theme, ‘Climate Smart Agriculture: Industrialization for Sustainable Food and Nutrition Security,’ aligns with the government’s National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) vision for rural industrialization.”
The event will feature a High Schools Quiz Competition, an Agribusiness Conference, and a Farmers’ Workshop, offering valuable insights into modern farming techniques.
“We anticipate a strong turnout as farmers explore innovations, new markets, and investment opportunities,” Mavankeni noted. “We are also honored to host a high-level delegation from Namibia’s Kavango East Region.”
A major highlight is the return of livestock exhibitions, showcasing cattle, goats, poultry, and other breeds. For the first time, the show will introduce a Livestock and Farm Produce Auction, allowing farmers to sell directly to buyers.
The Entertainment Gala will close the event in style, featuring live performances by Silent Killer, Ndunge, Madedido, and other top acts, alongside cultural displays and a fireworks spectacle.
“This year’s show will be dynamic, engaging, and impactful,” Mavankeni said. “With its focus on climate-smart agriculture and rural industrialization, we’re confident it will leave a lasting mark on the province and beyond.”
