A government media tour led by the Ministry of Information has wrapped up its Mashonaland Central leg, showcasing progress in health, education and industry—before moving to Masvingo today.
The tour, part of the devolution agenda, documented service delivery wins and gaps, with the Ministry urging continuity in efforts aligned with Vision 2030.
Permanent Secretary Nick Mangwana commended the province’s progress: “All the projects toured reflect hard work as we emulate President Mnangagwa’s mantra, ‘Nyika inovakwa nevenhe vayo’—leaving no one and no place behind.”
Key stops included:
Glendale – A lime manufacturing plant under implementation, with officials stressing the need to translate investment into stable jobs and local industrial output.
Bindura State University – New male dormitories under construction to ease accommodation strain amid growing enrolment.
Muyambuka Clinic – A 24-hour facility opened September 2024, now serving 50 patients daily (≈5,000 annually).
Staffed by four nurses and a rotating District Doctor, it offers free maternity, emergency and primary care. Challenges cited: STIs, early pregnancies (common in mining communities), and poor road links to Bindura Hospital delaying referrals.
Zvitokwe Primary School – A US$1.2 million Canterbury Mining-built facility featuring a generator and Starlink connectivity, already improving learning conditions.
Officials stressed that infrastructure alone is not enough—sustained maintenance, service delivery and inclusive planning remain critical.
The Ministry confirmed this tour model will roll out across other provinces to track progress and flag urgent gaps. Masvingo is next, with journalists touring today.
