Zimbabwe’s top sungura musician Alick Macheso and Freeman are this year’s headliners at the Castle Tankard slated for this Saturday at Borrowdale Racecourse.

The two heavy hitters will be the cherry on top at the much-anticipated event in the horse racing calendar, dating far back to 1960 when Castle Lager’s association with the race began.

This year’s theme: Ride the Legacy pays tribute to the friendship and partnership forged between Delta Beverages’ flagship brand Castle Lager and the Mashonaland Turf Club many years ago.

Also on the line up are rapper Bling 4 and Master H who is currently the biggest name in Zim dancehall as well as ChillSpot Family the trio of Fantan, Levels and Ribhe.

Of course, what will the show be without Macheso and Freeman performing their duet Ngaibake, well you have to be there to find out.

The race starts at 10am with lots of entertainment and prizes to be won.

Kundayi Mawema, Marketing Manager Lagers said sponsorship and stakes of USD50000-00 reaffirmed their commitment to the sport of horse racing.

“As The Mashonaland Turf Club, you remain resilient year on year, despite the economic challenges, to nurture, and keep the sport of horse racing alive and we continue to applaud you for your on going effort.

“It gives us an opportunity and a reason to meet each year over an ice-cold castle lager! And To our friends in the media thank you as always for supporting us and keeping the nation informed about our activities, you have helped shape this partnership into what it is today,” Mawema said.

She promised an exciting day filled with lots of fund and music.

“We know that it will be a very exciting race day and we look forward to hosting you all together with the Zimbabwean public, here on Saturday the 11th of May 2024 for the experience that will be headlined by Alick Maches, and feature many other of your favourite artists and DJs,” she said.
