Zim dancehall singer Killer T will headline the Vote for Peace Campaign scheduled for 1 July 2023 at Anthony Business Centre in Hopley.
Put together by Zimbabwe Election Support Network (ZESN), a coalition of non-governmental organization to promote democratic elections in the country, the gig will also see the likes of Wasu and Millenium Queens rocking the stage as well as Dancehall Kedha.
But Killer T who has been touring alongside Andy Muridzo around the country is geared up for the gig.
He is firm favourite of many ghetto youths and the gig is likely to attract the majority of first-time voters ahead of the 23 August general elections.
Born Kelvin Kusikwenyu, Killer T or Chairman in Zim dancehall is one of the pioneers in the genre.
Killer T’s songs is largely influenced by everyday life int eh ghetto having been born and raised in Mbare.
His big break came after holding his own at the Harare International Festival of the Arts where he rocked a cosmopolitan crowd.
Following the success of the gig he then penned the song KuHIFA on BodySlam riddim where he narrates how he won the hearts of many.
As his sound evolved so were his lyrics where he now focuses on life issues as he drifts from the original Zim dancehall.
Whatever sound he is now into, Killer T is still making good music for the people.
At least 11 presidential candidates including incumbent President Mnangagwa of Zanu PF, Citizens’ Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa, Douglas Mwonzora of Movement for Democratic Change-Tsvangirai and former Zanu PF national commissar Saviour Kasukuwere will participate in the elections.
But Hopley is one of the political hotbeds in Harare where often than not voting is marked by violence and skirmishes.
And it is hoped the gig will at least promote peace as music lovers dance around together
