South Africa’s Bongo Maffin member has paid tribute to all hardworking Zimbabweans living across the world.
Jah Seed who is largely credited as the brains behind Bongo Maffin echoed the sentiments after a show stopping act at the recently held Stanbic Bank Jacaranda Music Festival.
Drapped in all white attire, Jah Seed whose real name is Anesu Mupemhi first called for a moment of silence to victims of Xenophobia.
“South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, we are one,” he said to loud applause.
“To every Zimbabwean keep hustling and look for that money.”
Jah Seed, a Zimbabwean by birth, has had a successful career and his sentiments resonated well with most people living outside the country.
He then belted the hit Mari Yebepa injecting frenzy into the packed Old Hararians Sports club.
Most Zimbabweans continue to flee the country into SADC seeking greener pastures.
While things have continued to deteriorate economically many still find neighbouring countries a better option.
However, the party continued with Speedy and Stoan also of Bongo Maffin taking turns to entertain the crowd.
Stoan a Motswana, also told fans that Zimbabwe was his second home cementing earlier sentiments by Bongo Maffin “that we are one.”
Speedy made his presence felt when he performed the hit Lento although Professor was not there it was magical.
Later, Bongo Maffin performed Vakauya Vachena and gave thumbs up to Otis Fraser, another talent export from Zimbabwe who produced the hit.
Whenever Bongo Maffin performs in Harare it always feels a lot like a homecoming show.
And their set was one of the best acts at the Stanbic Bank Jacaranda Music Festival. While Thandiswa Mazwai was the missing one on the stage still the guys pulled it through.
As if that was not enough, Jah Seed had to come back as a Dj much to the delight of the crowd.
