As part of its ‘Light the World’ initiative, Kadoma’s The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints brought joy and hope to two Kadoma Children’s Homes when they presented them with food hampers and clothing.
The church’s kindness and generosity was a shining example of the impact that community churches and organisations can have on the lives of vulnerable children.The ceremony ran under the theme: ‘Adopt a Child Christmas Party.’
The ‘Light the World‘ initiative is a community outreach program initiated by Kadoma District in order to spread love, kindness, and hope to those in need.
The program aims to provide support to vulnerable members of the community, including children, the elderly, and those affected by poverty and disease.
The early Christmas presents to the two orphanage homes in Kadoma were indeed a special occasion, attended by several dignitaries.
The event was graced by the presence of Kadoma Mayor, Nigel Isheanesu Ruzario, Kadoma Member of Parliament, Gift Mambiripiri, who was represented, Dr Timothy Chizuzu Director of National Environment Awareness Trust (NEAT) and Kadoma Residents Association, (Kadoma Community Counci)l.
Kadoma City Mayor’s presence at the event demonstrates his commitment to supporting the local community and vulnerable groups.
Additionally, Kadoma ward councillors were present at the event, showcasing their dedication to serving the needs of their constituents.
The event was also attended by other dignitaries, who came together to spread some festive cheer and make a positive impact on the lives of the children at the orphanage homes.
The generosity and kindness displayed at the event were a testament to the spirit of compassion and community that defines Kadoma.
As the city continues to grow and develop, it’s heartening to see its leaders and residents coming together to support those in need.
During the his speech, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints District President (Kadoma District) Wellington Mbira said the church was committed to follow the teaching of Jesus Christ and spreading His Light to those in need.
“As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we are committed to following the teachings of Jesus Christ and spreading His light to those around us and during this Christmas season, we are reminded of the Savior’s birth and the light He brought to the world,” said Mr Mbira.
“Our “Light the World” program is inspired by the Savior’s teachings and example and we believe that as we follow Him, we can become a light to others, bringing hope, joy, and comfort to those in need.
This Christmas season, we invite you to join us in lighting the world, one by one, by adopting a child and providing them with a special Christmas experience.” continued the District President.
Guests of Honour, Kadoma City Mayor, His Worship Nigel Ruzario thanked the church for setting an example on how to bring joy and happiness to those in need.
“As we gather here today, I am reminded of the true spirit of Christmas. A time for love, joy, and giving. A time when we come together as a community to support those who need it most. Our ‘Adopt a Child Christmas Party Initiative’ aims to bring joy and happiness to 45 orphans living in our city.
By adopting a child, you will be providing them with a brand new outfit, a gift, and a chance to experience the joy of Christmas” said His Worship.
“Let us come together as a community to support this initiative and make it a success. Let us work together to make this Christmas a special one for the orphans in Kadoma and light the world and as we celebrate the festive season, let us not forget those who are less fortunate than us. Let us show them that we care, that we are committed to making a difference in their lives, and that we will continue to support them throughout the year,” the Mayor said.
Speaking soon after receiving the early Christmas presents, Director and founder of Tariro Children’s Home Mrs Pheobeline Magama said they were happy to receive the items and thanked the church for remembering them in times of need.
“We are so thankful to the church for their kindness and generosity and these donations will go a long way in supporting the needs of our children, and we are grateful for the church’s commitment to serving our community.” said Mrs Magama
A representative of Agape Children’s Home was full of joy by the food and clothes that they received from the church and she encouraged others churches and organizations to follow suit.
“We are deeply touched by the church’s kindness and generosity. The food and clothes donated to us will bring joy and relief to our lives, and we are thankful for the church’s commitment to serving the community.” said the representative.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kadoma District’s early Christmas presentation to the two orphanage homes is a shining example of the power of community and compassion so as Churches, Organisations, Corporate world look to the future, they must continue to strive for a world where every child has access to the love, care, and support they deserve.
The generosity and kindness displayed at this event are a testament to the spirit of compassion and community that defines Kadoma.
