Irene Christian College Hosts Two-Day Science Expo

The Irene Christian College (ICC) is set to host a dynamic two-day Science Expo on June 27 and 28, 2024, at the ICC campus located at number 14 Adylinn Road in Marlborough, Harare.

This highly anticipated event is set to be a vibrant celebration of scientific inquiry and innovation, bringing together 12 esteemed schools, including Prince Edward School, Mabvuku High School, Milestone College, Sacred Heart College, Forward In Faith Christian College, Christ Ministries, Queen Elizabeth Girls High, St John’s High School Emerald Hill, Heritage School, St. Ignatius College, and of course, the hosts, Irene Christian College.

Ms. Rumbidzai Goto, an educator at Irene Christian College, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, highlighting the significance of the participating schools and their dedication to promoting STEM education.

“We are thrilled to have such esteemed institutions join us for this science extravaganza. These schools are at the forefront of fostering scientific curiosity and innovation among students,” said Ms. Goto.

The presence of the Indian Embassy at the Science Expo adds an international dimension to the event, with the Indian Ambassador set to deliver the keynote address, providing a global perspective to the proceedings.

Furthermore, the District School Inspector’s attendance will highlight the educational community’s recognition of the importance of such initiatives in nurturing young scientific minds.

Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) and the University of Zimbabwe (UZ), renowned institutions in higher education and research, have been appointed as adjudicators for the science projects.

Their involvement not only enhances the event with their expertise but also provides students with the opportunity to receive feedback from seasoned professionals.

The Irene Science Expo is divided into two distinct days, each with its unique focus. June 27th has been designated as the Expo and Careers Day, offering students the chance to showcase their scientific projects and engage in discussions about future career paths in the STEM fields.

On June 28th, the spotlight will be on the Award Ceremony Day, celebrating outstanding achievements and recognizing students for their innovative contributions to the scientific community.
