Musician — Mark Ngwazi — who dared to sing sungura in English says he wants to feature either Chinese or Indian singers on his next project.
The 32-year-old Ngwazi whose claim to fame was his chart topper — Dzimwe Nzendo Taurai Madzoka or simply Taurai Madzoka — which went viral on social media including TikTok said he wants to take the music scene by surprise.
“This year promises to be a good one for me because I believe I have so much to give and yet not enough time.
“I am hoping to collaborate with a Chinese and Indian singers on sungura beat. The idea is to reach out to other borders through use of different language,” Ngwazi said.
He explained when pressed further to comment on the surprise artists: “I am not going to say who will be featured on the next project because it is going to be a surprise. However, as I indicated that I want to feature British, Chinese and Indian artists. I want to take sungura to a whole new level.”
Taurai Madzoka literally broke the internet with users sampling the English verse which goes like this: “I don’t blame people for disappointing you, I blame yourself for trusting them, Trust nobody and suspect everybody, don’t tell people about your vision . . . “
There have been several memes, GIFs, skits and TikTok videos of people mimicking the song providing for interesting viewing for lockdown fans.
According to Ngwazi, he did not expect Taurai Madzoka to go viral but said a new video of the song Chamugwedugwedu due out this monthend will be a sure fire hit.
This week, Ngwazi who is new to TikTok said he would soon open an account after some well-wishers gifted him with two smart phones, an Itel A56 and a Samsung Note 10 Plus. Above all, the musician received lessons from his management on how to use the cellphone to access the TikTok platform.
