She exuded an admirable aura of presence and humility on stage, but her lyrical venom was all the more inspiring.
She spitted punchline after punchline, verse after verse, beating her competitors to it.
Her final battle with K-Queen sealed her fate as the new Zim-dancehall Queen after a no contest.
Madzimai iCandy delighted her fans at the packed City Sports Centre during the Harare Cup Clash organised, by Chipaz Promotions.
Dressed as an apostolic sect member with her white doek and a matching garment, Madzimai iCandy proved that one cannot be judged by the looks but what they say.
She appealed to fans with her lyrical prowess in more ways than one, so much that even the judges unanimously crowned her Queen of Zim dancehall.
The way she dressed on stage did not in any way influence her delivery as most people mistakenly took her for a reserved and shy person.
But after her performance, many were convinced that Madzimai iCandy was another talented female chanter waiting to explode onto the scene.
Even rapper Holy Ten, who made a guest appearance at the Harare Cup Clash, acknowledged that Madzimai iCandy was a dynamite.
“This is where it starts, you are going to be a star,” Holy Ten told Madzimai iCandy as she lifted her trophy.
The Madhafela singer also confirmed that he would collaborate with her.
Over and above this, DJ Fantan also promised to record Madzimai iCandy on her debut 10-track album.
This year’s edition of Harare Cup Clash was not only sold out but also well organised. It is at this event that young and upcoming talent is discovered and exposed.
Several hopefuls from different ghettos sign up to take part before the winners launch their music careers.
